The quest
Kate and I have always wanted a family. When we first met (through roleplaying Law and Order SVU) we had our characters fall in love, and over a period of time, decide to have a baby. We stopped playing that thread after a few months... because we saw ourselves playing out our life. Well, what we wanted our life to be.
Throughout our three year relationship, the end game of finally being together in Australia with a family including us and two children pervaded our life plan. It was always a far off, one day type of deal.
The fact is... if Kate and I had been in close proximity geographically from day one... we would have at least one baby already. We both want a family. We want to have our own little unit in a house with a swing set in the back yard.
When I moved here, I started talking about it more, and the conversation usually went, "Two or three more years and we can do that. No need to rush things."
About two weeks ago, Kate started having dreams about having babies. Always in a different situation, but still... there was a baby. We started talking quite seriously about all of this.
Obviously, this is something that takes a metric ass ton of planning. We can't accidentally have a family. So, we starting thinking harder about it.
Now, we know we want a family. I will be a resident (hopefully) in November 2011. Our original plan was to get me residency, take about six months to get ourselves together, then go to the states for about five weeks and sightsee as a committed (with rings) couple and go to Disney World, see family, etc.
The plan now... which is rough, is that we might start trying in about 10 months. We need to find a donor. We hope it will be Jason.
When I get residency (having a child together will help immensely) we can go home (perhaps with the jellybean - I'm calling the baby that right now - if we have him/her by then) and do Disney. I don't know.
It's all exciting and terrifying. I don't want to be a mother like my mother was. I want to be better than her. I want to make sure our jellybeans have everything they need and want (within reason, lol) and two mommies who love them more than anything. I want them to never know what bill collectors are like, and to enjoy colouring, and to like chicken nuggets.
I hope this goes well. I hope Jason says yes. I hope I don't puke all over the table at dinner or spill my drink on him.
I'm ready to have a family with Kate. I love her more than anything. I know she is the only person I want to be with forever. I've never had a moment of doubt.
Being a fetish model.
Her profile looked normal. (For Fetlife, lol.) And so, I sent her a message expressing interest. She preplied and we hit it off really nicely, then made plans to meet after Kate got off work a week later.
Kate and I decided I would be the one to dress up, and she would act as my mommy/authority figure. The photographer said she would be using the photos to draw motion art and it would be on display... somewhere, but our faces wouldn't be noticable. Cool.
Tuesday came, and I was really nervous! I had everything packed, my plaid short skirt, knee socks, white panties, white bra, and black singlet, and we headed over. Kate was totally calm about the whole thing, which was weird. Usually, it's the opposite.
Anyway, we got there, and Kat made us feel really welcome. We talked with her, and basically, set up the room. Kate dropped me, then spanked me. The whole thing felt strangely liberating, and I am really glad that I did it. That we did it as a couple.
I can't wait to see the finished products. Kate said she would email me the photos when she had them. If any of them are decent, I will post them. :)
(no subject)
Today has been that kind of day.
I love the smell of her skin, and how soft it feels and days like this just make those two years where all I had was a voice and face on skype worth it all.
Brain Dump
Crap. I lost momentum because I paused writing this. I need to keep going.
School. I came over to Australia on a Student visa merely so I could come out earlier (since Kate cannot lodge an application to sponsor me until November 2011). I am going to TAFE, which is basically a vocational school, studying Community Welfare. The subject interests the shit out of me. I want to help people. I love the idea of working in the industry... and I picked welfare because it was on the general skilled migrant list of needed skills when I applied. The international student business (because it is a business here) is a racket. The course if offered to both local Australian students as well as international students. Local students will spend roughly 2300$ to take the entire course. International students get to spend 22,000$ to take the same fucking course. There is no difference, nothing extra that goes with it besides an "included" $20 membership to the student association, and cafeteria that I get questioned about my status as an international student every time I go in there because I am a white student. (The vast majority of the int'l students are Asian or Indian)
The classes are small, which would be awesome for class discussion, but that doesn't happen. There is one other native English speaker in my class (Sarah, from Ireland) and she and I basically keep the class running by being the only ones who interact with the teacher. Everyone else is Asian, and none of them talk. At all. Mostly, it is because they have a very tenuous grasp of the language and are always struggling to catch up. Most of them stopped showing up for class completely. It's frustrating, especially when most of the work is done in a group. Also, they are chronically late. I could never, ever just walk into a 9am class at 9:45. Never.
Also with this visa, you can't work more than 20 hours, unless you are on school holidays. This sucks, and makes it pretty impossible to get a job not slinging french fries. I'll come back to finances later, though. And with all the money we pay for school, we don't get the benefit of using the concessions, like half price bus tickets, and that is special to New South Wales. The other states all allow this.
Back to the class. This module is a new version of the class being taught for the first time. Apparently, that excuses them having nothing prepared. We didn't get assessment books until week seven, which is nearly half way in. They don't know what we are supposed to be doing and why. And they keep adding assessments in at the last minute. One of our classes was meant to be a workplace learning class, where we work at a welfare agency for 60 hours. We were told at the beginning of the semester that this would be sorted. We asked about it in class, and were given the brush off each time. Come week 10, when we were supposed to have this information, and we were due to start the placement, there was nothing. The teacher said she didn't know what was happening. So, on week 11, she gave us an assessment (exam) that was due the next week. Something they "forgot" to add to our book. Then, on week 12, they added a new assessment, and came out with another assessment, which would be the answer to the workplace learning part of the course. We were given two choices. One: find an agency on our own and do a 60 hour placement. Or, in a group, find an agency for the class of 14 to visit, where one of the workers would explain how the agency worked and what they did on a daily basis, and find a speaker to come to the school and do the same thing. Well, the first option was out. There weren't 60 hours left in the semester to do a 60 hour placement, which forced us into groups.
Group work is rough in an international student class. They all want to be with the English speakers because they know we will do all of the work. Which we do. This also means that Sarah and I never get to be in a group together, and must be separated "to make it fair". Fuck that. Since beginning this project, I have done everything myself (phone calls, emails, advertisements). I don't know how the rest of them will be accounting for the things they didn't do, but it's not my problem.
The teacher for that class and I have not gotten along well either. She has a thing about Americans, and she has a thing about being wrong. I think I just confronted her with all of her dislikes at once. She had been rude, demeaning, and nasty towards me. I can't wait till she is gone.
The real kick in the face with this TAFE thing is that they recently redid the skills list. Despite Welfare being a way underserved sector, they took it off the list of skills to come over here with. Most of the classes TAFE teaches are the same, so attendance has plummeted at the school. As you can imagine, this makes group work very difficult to do, when the group is out.
I'm exhausted. I want to hide away with Kate for a few weeks and become me again. The semester will be over in four weeks and we can do that to some extent, but I don't know what that will mean. We hope we can go away soon, get out of here for a week or a few days and recharge.
I'm just glad Kate and I have a backup for this visa thing. With all of the drama with the school stuff, I am really hesitant to give TAFE much more money. What we have discussed is going one more semester, then waiting until January... going to New Zealand for a few days where I will apply for a working holiday visa. This means I can stay for another year (till Jan 2012) and work as much as I want while I "vacation" in Australia. We will be able to lodge the defacto visa that will let me stay permanently in November of 2011, and hopefully that will be the end of it. We will have been able to save money in the process, and then when I am a resident of Australia, I can finish my diploma in Welfare at a 1/10th of the cost.
Win/Win?
I don't know.
I'm hoping this will get better. I know when the semester is over I have a clean slate. It's just getting the slate clean in the coming weeks is proving a challenge.

AUGH
Before I left, I had a problem with my cell phone. T-mo said they would unlock it and send out a new one. Cool. I checked with my grandma and aunt and they verified that yes, they would send it along immediately. (T-mo wouldn't ship the phone to Australia) I stressed the importance of this to them because if I didn't send back the other phone in their envelope, I would be charged another 200$.
The phone arrived in NJ Two days after I arrived (so.... 12/30). They said they would send it ASAP.
I still haven't received it. Last I heard, it was in the back seat of the car. I have since been charged for the second phone. I would keep the second phone, and say fuck it, but... Tmo only sends the shell of the phone. Not the back of the phone either, and no battery. I'm pissed.
Also... my last paycheck got to the house on the 12th of January. When I called on the 15th to see if it had arrived, I was told it would go in the next day (the 15th was MLK day). Cool, no problem.,
Well, It's 2/2 now, and I checked my account. No check deposited. See... I pay my school loan from that account... the school loan that my aunt cosigned on. I don't know what they are doing, but I would rather not be late on that payment, since she was shitty with me in general and worried I wouldn't pay it. I WOULD BE MORE THAN HAPPY TO IF YOU DEPOSITED IT IN MY BANK ACCOUNT, FUCKING ASSHOLE.
rargh.
OMG
Kate emailed and said "sure". Then... we didn't hear anything after, so we assumed they found someone. Oh well.
We woke up this morning, and got an email asking if we were still available to take her.
YES. YES, WE ARE.
HOLY SHIT.
So, we are picking her up from the airport next wednesday.
Hopefully short emo moment
I don't think her friends are terribly taken with me. This could be due to the fact that they hated her last girlfriend and are wary of me... or I could be too full on, too sarcastic...
In all actuality, I am really shy. I have moments of extrovert that pop out occasionally, but usually, it's all introvert. Thing is, I really just tried to be myself, and I don't think they are keen. It could also be that they want to protect Kate, since I don't think everyone feels like this is as solid as we already know it is.
I just wish I had my own friends here, who I could hang out with. It's been slightly isolating in that regard. I wake up, shower, hang out by myself, play with the dog, do laundry sometimes, and then make lunch for when Kate comes home on her break, then clean up from that when she goes, and straighten up the room, and then soon after, she's home. I'm always clinging to her coming home, because then I won't be lonely.
Maybe I am just lonely. I'll be really happy to be distracted by work and school come February. It's all starting to get to me, I think.
I also miss home a little. I miss the familiarity.
Panic
So, there is a snowmageddon happening on the east cost of the US. I leave in 8 days. Flights are being cancelled and my aunt seems to think now is a good time to go on and on about how I might not be able to leave.
She was unhappy with my choice to leave right after Christmas to begin with, but the flight was the cheapest by far. Anyway, I just don’t understand her.
I need to be able to get out on time. Once the flight is off the ground in NY, my worries are over.
It will be fine. It will be fine. It will be fine. It will be fine. It will be fine. It will be fine. It will be fine. It will be fine. It will be fine. It will be fine. It will be fine. It will be fine. It will be fine. It will be fine. It will be fine. It will be fine. It will be fine. It will be fine. It will be fine. It will be fine. It will be fine. It will be fine. It will be fine. It will be fine. It will be fine. It will be fine. It will be fine. It will be fine. It will be fine. It will be fine. It will be fine. It will be fine. It will be fine. It will be fine.
FUCK AND PANIC
Moving to Australia in NINE FUCKING DAYS.
WHAT THE FUCK.
I haven’t even started doing… ANYTHING.
Therefore, I need to do a to do list.
HEY BITCH, YOU GOTTA DO THIS SHIT BEFORE YOU MOVE:
-Go through everything in the garage
-Wash clothes
-Decide what I am taking
-Donate what I am not taking
-Find 2 large suitcases
-Find the scale
-Pack everything I am taking - 2 bags must weigh 50 lbs each at most.
-Figure out how to distribute the crap in the luggage. I can take bags up to 50lbs on Jet blue, and 70lbs total on VAustralia. Plan is to have 2 things that are 15 lbs each to take out of bags and place in the carry on.
-Panic.
-Watch the weather and panic about my flight getting snowed in.
ponderponderthink.
I got my student visa, and I couldn't be happier. I have no idea how that happened, but I am delighted. I can't wait to wake up next to Kate in the mornings and go to sleep with her at night.
One thing that's annoying me is that I keep inciting stupid arguments... I know its because I am scared... I'm moving to another country. Unless something drastic happens in the US, its forever.
I am freaked. It's going to be an enormous adjustment for me... and Kate to have me there. I wish I could calm down. I'm scared and excited and nervous.
Also... I'm officially on dreamwidth. I didn't pay for another year of LJ, so I'm on here now. I'll read my friends page, but other than that...

I have too much other shit going on in my life to worry about it, but now that it's said, hopefully I can let it go.
Anyway, I finally have a job again. This time, it's with a heating company, and all I am doing is re-upping their yearly contract... so, sales plus commission. At least I have a decent base salary. I will be applying for my visa in roughly fifteen days. My immigration to Australia now basically lies in the hands of the Australian government. I'm stressed about that, but learning to let it go.
Nothing else to say, really.
Never ending
I was so excited on Thursday when I went in to work, but I knew I couldn't say anything about it. (I have been very, very careful about talking about this stuff at work because I didn't want drama.)
I get in at 9am. There are two entrances into the office - one is a glass storefront and the other is a back door by where I sit that is across the hall from the bathroom that's still accessible from outside. Around 9:30, maybe 9:45, one of the bosses comes barreling through the back door and immediately locks it, then tells the guy up front to lock the front door. Of course, this causes silence amongst the nine of us who work there, and we stare as she whispers something to a girl in front, but proceeds to tell us nothing. She disappears into her office.
WTF-ery ensues.
Then, a big dude comes to the door and she lets him in. I am told this is her drug dealer... she smokes pot in her office a lot, but whatever. They go in to the office, and so the speculation is that perhaps she is hiding him from the cops? No one knows.
About five minutes later, she is like, "okay, see ya." And we ask what's up, and she doesn't tell us. We ask if we are okay to stay and she's like, "Um... sure... yeah... just keep the door locked."
ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?!
So, she's out. We are all staring at eachother and finally the girl who was told what's up let's us in on the story. Apparently, boss' son is a crazy person, and because he was cut out of his father's estate, he likes to threaten her with guns. So, none of us think this is a cool thing to do, and I am silently panicking. I want to go home, I have had it.
About three hours pass. I go out to lunch with two other people, and we proceed to take an hour away from the office. Fuck them.
When we get back, boss #2, who was out sick, pulls up and she ushers us inside, then turns off all the lights and tells us we are going home early. Oh, and take tomorrow off too. Just stay away from the office till Monday.
Apparently crazy son was skulking around the office building with a gun waiting to kill us all.
Well, I don't need to be told twice. She gave us advances on our pay (we were getting paid Friday) and she escorts us out.
We were told not to call the police by boss one, and that we were in no danger.
I got in the car, and went home. I am not going back on Monday.
See, here is my problem with how this went down. How do you leave your employees in an office alone when there is imminent danger, and how do you not even tell them there is a problem? I'm sorry, I just can't deal with that.
I haven't been sleeping well since and I am frustrated.
Is it October 8th yet? Can I apply for the visa?

I'M COMING, BABY!!!!!!!!!!!!
You are going to have to kick your girlfriend out.
(no subject)
The doctor wants me to visit her in a week to take a look at me more thoroughly, and they want me to see a gastroenterologist. It might be something with my stomach, or my gallbladder. They mentioned that twice as a likely suspect. Could be a gallstone, or... yeah, I don't want to think about surgery.
I left the hospital around 2:15pm yesterday, then went home and showered, changed, and headed down to the theater. My pain started coming back, but I completely ignored it. I took a few aleve, had water, and went on.
The show went well. Really well, actually. After, we all went out for food and drink, and I got home at 1:15 am, then promptly passed out.
Tonight, there will be a reviewer at the show. Holy. Fuck. Nutz.
