Casey sat at her dining room table flipping through her mail. She let it pile up during the week, having been too busy to do more than toss the envelopes in the general direction of her dining room. Most of the mail was junk. A small portion was bills, and there were a few colored envelopes mixed in with the rest. She dutifully opened all of the bills first, separating them from the rest and examining her statements. Once she completed the bills, she put the extraneous papers in a pile to shred. By the time she got to the envelopes, she was tired and ready for sleep, but she kept going. There were a few condolence cards regarding her former job with the DA's office, a baby announcement from a friend in college that she lost touch with, and a very, very belated birthday card from her uncle. The last card stuck out. It was light purple and she knew the handwriting immediately. Casey perked up and opened the envelope, not knowing what she would find in there.
It was a save the date. She wrinkled her nose in confusion and read closer, not noticing the photos of her and Elliot together until about thirty seconds after she saw the words. They were getting married? She pinched the bridge of her nose and blinked away her tears. She had been with Olivia a long time ago, but she never realized she had never stopped carrying a torch for Elliot. Smiling tightly, she slid the card back into the envelope and made a mental note to send her a congratulations card.
